Haworth McCall worked closely with ECE Architects on the structural and civil engineering design of this block of apartments in Haywards Heath. To limit construction time and simplify the foundations, a load bearing masonry structure was used, with precast concrete floors and a timber-framed upper floor.

The Burrells, Shoreham by Sea
Haworth McCall provided the structural design, helping to create a stunning family home from the original outdated house. The existing roof and first floor were removed, then replaced using timber framed construction. The new lightweight structure allowed the ground floor walls and foundations to be re-used, to give our client a light and spacious dwelling, that is also economical and with low embodied carbon.

Haworth McCall designed the structure for this new teaching block, located near Lewes castle, using a timber frame to meet with the architect and client’s requirement for sustainable construction. A pragmatic approach to the foundation design allowed the building to be constructed while still protecting the historic site for future archaeological exploration.
