Temporary and demountable structures

Not to be confused with “temporary works” (falsework, formwork, scaffolding), temporary structures are defined in the Building Regulations as structures that will not be in place for more than 28 days in a calendar year. These are typically demountable stands and stages for events, and their temporary nature makes them vulnerable to extreme weather events so the structural engineer needs to take this into account. These engineers have expertise in temporary and demountable structures
